PARCEL DELIVERY AND COURIER SERVICES TO FRENCH SOUTHERN AND ANTARCTIC LANDS
Properly known as the Territory of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, it is an overseas territory of France consisting of the five administrative districts – the archipelago of les Crozet and Iles Kerguelen; two volcanic islands made up of Ile Saint-Paul and Ile Amsterdam; Iles Eparses which has five islands near Madagascar; the fifth part is “Adelie Land," which is a small piece of the Antarctic continent that was claimed by the French in 1840. The territory gained administrative and financial autonomy in 1955, and does not have a permanent civilian population. There are however, a handful of scientists, staff and French military personnel that frequent the research stations located on the various islands. The territory’s economic activity is limited to the meteorological and geophysical research stations and military bases. Some fishermen also frequent some of the islands. The fish that is caught by foreign ships is exported to France and Reunion. While there is not a lot of human activity on land there is still a need for cheap and reliable courier services to French Southern and Antarctic Lands because of its significant use as a research hub.
