As a close second to the nation's favourite gift-swapping Christmas period, Valentine's Day presents a couple of questions to both star-crossed lovers and couriers alike. Of course, we'd all like to give gifts in person, but sometimes that's not always convenient. However, and even if you're not apart it's always exciting to receive a surprise delivery. Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday in 2016, so whilst a workplace surprise bouquet is probably out of the equation, you might have other reasons for needing to have your gift delivered. When should I arrange for collection? Will my gift arrive in time? All perfectly normal concerns that we here at My Parcel Delivery hope to give you a few quick tips on.Don't wait until the last minuteTo make sure your pressie arrives in time, make sure you don't leave it the last minute. Our couriers don't currently deliver on Sundays, and only Parcelforce deliver on Saturdays, so it's really important to get that order in on time. If you're using Parcelforce, booking on Thursday the 11th should be fine, however, to ensure your gift arrives before Saturday when using other couriers, it's best to explore your options and check the estimated delivery date.Remember, if its flowers you're sending - don't be too early, otherwise you run the risk of them wilting in the depot. Receiving a dying flower might send the wrong message! To get your gift there by this Saturday, have a look at what Parcelforce are offering.Read up on sending gifts abroad (and at home!)Although it might be tempting to send a long-distance lover a gift to a far-flung destination, it's always important to remember to check the rules. Even within the UK, there are guidelines surrounding alcohol (which includes most perfumes), and even chocolates. For further info about what's 100% safe to send, cast your eyes on our handy restricted/prohibited items list.Whilst we're pretty sure you won't be sending “airbag modules“ to your significant other, it's always wise to check the guidelines.Don't forget about packagingWhether you're sending perfume or a cute fluffy toy, it's always important to make sure your gift arrives not just on time, but also safely. Here at My Parcel Delivery, we've put together a quick and simple guide to parcel packaging, so have a quick read and hopefully you'll find some helpful hints. As a rule, it's usually best not to include overly-fancy ribbons and decorations, as parcels move around depots on conveyor belts and can get trapped. Why not put your beautifully gift wrapped item inside another plain box, so your loved one still gets that special unwrapping experience.
