Royal Mail Launch Sunday Service Test

There are few things more frustrating than having your parcel held hostage in a sorting office over the weekend. Hermes and DPD have already realised this frustration and now deliver on a Sunday, while Parcelforce Worldwide announced Sunday services would be available to selected online retailers from next month. Yesterday, the Royal mail followed suit by announcing a pilot scheme to be run later this summer. They aim to benefit from the boom in online shopping and help those who miss their parcel midweek who don't want to, or indeed can't, spend their Saturday mornings queuing at their local sorting office. This Royal mail announcement had 2 sides - one focusing on the opening hours of sorting offices, the other on actual parcel deliveries.Only time will tell for the success of this scheme, and the limitations put on it during the pilot, but it is a bold move by the Royal Mail. Chief Executive Moya Greene said that “Through these new Sunday services we are exploring ways to improve our flexibility and provide more options for people to receive items they have ordered online.“While we wait to see what happens, you can still choose Hermes for the UK or DPD for Europe to get your parcel where it needs to be, 7 days a week!
