Not only does MPD have a maximum weight and length for parcels, it also has a maximum girth of 280cm. To work out the girth of your parcel just use the equation Girth=Length + (Width x 2) + (Height x 2)
The MPD service requires all parcels to be packaged in a strong cardboard box with no shrink wrapping on the outside. It'll keep your parcels safe and also avoid a surcharge of £4+vat being applied.
If your parcel is 150cm - 170cm in length, a £4+vat charge will be applied. If you don't have scales and a tape measure at home, try using our guide to weighing & measuring. To make sure that you have no problems, we go with the motto “if in doubt be generous!”
Make sure your printer is in full working order and topped up with ink as this service requires a printed label. While you're at it, why not print another and pop it inside your parcel just in case.
What are the steps for collection?
First of all make sure your parcel is packed up and ready to go. It needs to be packaged according to our packaging guidelines and remember to use a hardwearing cardboard box for the MPD Next Day service. Don’t forget that you must package your parcel in a box without outer shrink wrap or you may liable for a surcharge.
Next, simply print your label and attach it to the outside of your box. While you're printing one label why not print 2? Just pop the other inside the cardboard box just in case the other is damaged. This way the courier can still get your parcel where it needs to be.

What happens if my item is too big or heavy?
You must ensure your parcel is within the maximum dimensions before booking your delivery. The maximum dimensions are 170cm in length (an additional charge of £4+vat is applied to any parcel over 150cm in length), 30kg in weight and 280cm in girth - calculated as Girth=Length + (Width x 2) + (Height x 2). The courier can refuse to collect any parcels which are oversized or overweight, or, if they do, you may be liable for surcharges which we certainly wouldn't want!
Once collected, your parcel will be taken to a sorting depot where it will be weighed and measured to confirm the size and weight entered on booking
What are prohibited and restricted items?
Prohibited items, such as aerosol cans, drugs and fireworks are not able to be sent by any courier booked through My Parcel Delivery. Other items are restricted which means that they are able to be sent but will not be eligible for compensation. These restricted items include clocks, glass items and plants/seeds. What happens if nobody is at there when the courier arrives to deliver the item?
If no one's available when the courier arrives for delivery the courier will leave a calling card containing details about how to get your parcel. If a neighbour is home the courier may leave your parcel with them at their discretion.
What should I do if my parcel isn't collected?
The majority of parcels are collected from your address on the very first attempt. Unfortunately, every so often, collections fail and we're really sorry about that. No couriers offer guaranteed collection dates, but they will do everything possible to knock on your door on the estimated date given at the time of booking. Whether your courier ran out of time, or the courier arrived but the parcel was not available, contact us to reschedule your collection.
What do I do if my parcel fails to be delivered?
The couriers used for this MPD service enjoy an impressive 95% success rate with deliveries. That said, while most happen without a hitch, from time to time things can go wrong and they aren't able to guarantee delivery dates. Heavy traffic, road closures, accidents and bad weather can all affect a courier's route and their ability to deliver on time. If this happens to you we're truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. We’ll email you to keep you up to date but you can contact us if you need help to reschedule your delivery for a different day.
