Happy customers

That's a good idea

X-ray checks

Your parcel will be x-rayed at the DPD depot to check it doesn't contain anything on the prohibited items list. If in doubt then contact us and we'll tell you if your item is safe to send. It’s also worth checking any additional restrictions for the country you are sending to.

Avoid Customs Delays

Make sure you attach 5 copies of the completed pro-forma invoice in an envelope to the outside of your parcel. These will be examined by the customs officers when your parcel reaches the destination country. If you don’t include this document with your parcel it could be rejected and returned to you.

Check address details

Check, check and check again when filling out your address details as any changes to your collection and/or delivery address will be charged at the full rate of your delivery - no one wants to double the cost of your service!

Be accurate with your weights and measures

The DPD Europe Classic parcel delivery service lets you send parcels up to a maximum of 170cm in length and a maximum of 30kg in weight. It's vital that you weigh and measure your parcel accurately before you book your parcel delivery to ensure your parcel fits within these limits, otherwise you could face extra charges or the parcel could be refused by the courier collecting it.

Extra info for Parcels to China

The DPD Air Service has some extra restrictions when sending parcels to China. The maximum parcel weight for sending a parcel to China with DPD Air is 10kg and the maximum parcel length is 70cm. If the items in your parcel are valued at 50RMB (approx. £5) or below then any import duties can be waived. Parcels containing more than one item must not exceed a value of 800RMB (approx £85), if you parcel contains just a single items, it can exceed this threshold. The pro-forma must provide an accurate and detailed description of the items in your parcel and you must provide a telephone number for the receiver. Be aware that the recipient can only receive two items per week using this service, if more parcels are sent, they will be held by DPD until the following week.

Frequently asked questions

What are the steps for collection?

Once you've booked the DPD Air Classic delivery service, you will need to have your parcel wrapped and ready for when the courier arrives. Next, simply print the label and attach it to the parcel securely (and write the details in pen on the outside of the parcel in case the label falls off). You will also need to attach 5 copies of the pro-forma invoice and attached these in an envelope to the outside of your parcel. Then simply wait! Your DPD courier will arrive to collect the parcel and deliver it wherever it needs to go.

What time will the courier arrive for a collection?

Collection times for the DPD Air Classic service are between 8am and 6.30pm so ensure that you are able to stay at the collection address between these times. The time window may be extended when the couriers are exceptionally busy - for example in the run up to Christmas, you can imagine delivering people Christmas shopping and gifts will make them very busy indeed!

Can I leave my parcel outside for the courier to pick up if I am not at home?

One of our mottos is safety first! To keep your parcel (and you!) safe DPD will not collect it from outside your home – it's good to be sure the right person is taking your precious cargo on its journey.

What happens if my item is too big or heavy?

For deliveries outside of the EU, using DPD's Air Classic delivery service, the maximum parcel length permitted is 170cm, the maximum weight is 30kg and  the maximum girth is 280cm (calculated as girth=length + (2 x height) + (2 x depth)). The DPD courier could refuse to collect oversized or overweight parcels. If they do collect them they can still contact us for additional charges which you would be liable for and we certainly wouldn't want that!

When your parcel arrives at the sorting depot it will be x-rayed, measured and weighed to confirm the size and weight are what you stated when booking your delivery. If you aren't sure what your parcel dimensions are and don't have the tools to check, then try using our guide to weighing & measuring  but as it is better to be safe than sorry, be generous with your estimations!

What are prohibited and restricted items?

Prohibited items, such as stamps, fire extinguishers and musical instruments (without cases) are not permitted to be sent by any courier you book with My Parcel Delivery. Other items can be sent but are not eligible for any compensation cover. These restricted items include glass products, marble and clocks.

Here is a list of prohibited & restricted items but if you are unsure whether the contents of your parcel fall into either of these categories simply contact us. Our friendly customer services team will be more than happy to help you.

When will my item be delivered?

Your delivery date and time will depend on where it is being sent to but generally the courier will arrive between 8am and 6pm. To help the couriers delivering your parcel within Europe, please ensure you include a local contact number for the recipient. This is so they can give them a call if they get lost!

What happens if nobody is at home when the courier arrives to deliver the item?

If no one's home when the courier comes for delivery they will leave a calling card with details of how they get the parcel. If a neighbour is home they may leave the parcel with them and will state this on the calling card. The best idea is to leave a local telephone number for the recipient on your booking so that the courier can call them if needed.

What should I do if my parcel isn't collected?

The majority of parcels are collected by DPD on the very first attempt. Unfortunately, every so often, collections can fail to occur and we're really sorry about this. DPD aren't able to offer guaranteed collection dates, but rest assured that they will do everything possible to knock on your door on the estimated date. Whether your courier ran out of time, or the courier arrived but the parcel was not available, contact us to reschedule your collection.

What do I do if my parcel fails to be delivered?

Our courier partners enjoy an impressive 95% success rate with their deliveries. That said, while most go without a hitch, very occasionally things go wrong and none of the couriers are able to guarantee their delivery dates, especially when being sent outside of the UK. Anything from heavy traffic and road closures to missed collections and customs backlogs can affect the courier's ability to deliver on time. If this happens to you we're truly sorry for the inconvenience. We’ll keep you up to date in the tracking but you can contact us if you need help.
