X-ray checks

Your parcel will be x-rayed at the DPD depot to check it doesn't contain anything on the prohibited items list. If you're unsure about something you're sending then contact us and we'll tell you if your item is safe to send.

Drop it off before 10am

The earlier you drop your parcel off, the quicker it will be collected from the DPD Pickup location by the DPD courier driver and on its way to be delivered. As a general guide, we’d recommend you drop it off before 10am or it may not get collected by DPD until the next day.

Check address details

Check, check and check again when filling out your address details as any changes to your collection and/or delivery address will be charged at the full rate of your delivery - no one wants to double the cost of your service!

Be accurate with your weights and measures

DPD’s drop-off service has restrictions on the weight and size of parcels you can send using this courier service. It's vital that you weigh and measure your parcel accurately before booking your delivery. If you parcel is too big or heavy, it could be refused at the drop off point or you could face additional charges.

Frequently asked questions

When and where can I drop-off my parcel?

For DPD's 1-2 day delivery service within the UK, you'll need to drop your parcel off. There are plenty of "DPD Pickup" locations in the UK, including pharmacies and newsagents, so simply take your parcel to one that's easy for you - find your closest DPD Pickup Point here. Many of the "DPD Pickup" locations offer extended opening times but if you drop your parcels off early, they could get delivered even faster!

Be aware that there are a small number of DPD Pickup Points, including all Halfords DO NOT accept parcels for drop-off. A full list of these can be found on the DPD Drop Off locations page.

What happens if my item is too big or heavy?

For deliveries in the UK using DPD's drop off service, the maximum parcel length permitted is 50cm, the maximum weight is 18kg and  the maximum girth is 210cm (calculated as girth=length + (2 x height) + (2 x depth)).

When your parcel arrives at the sorting depot it will be x-rayed, measured and weighed to confirm the size and weight are what you stated when booking your delivery. If you aren't sure what your parcel dimensions are and don't have the tools to check, then try using our guide to weighing & measuring  but as it is better to be safe than sorry, be generous with your estimations!

How big can my parcel be if I’m dropping it off at a DPD Pickup point?

The maximum parcel length permitted for the DPD drop off service is 50cm and it must not weigh more than 18kg. The maximum girth is 210cm (calculated as girth=length + (2 x height) + (2 x depth)). Make sure your parcel fits within these limits or the DPD Pickup point may refuse to accept your parcel and we certainly wouldn't want that. If they did take it, you may be receive a surcharge when the parcel gets to the depot, so it's best to check your parcel is suitable to send first.

Again, when your parcel arrives at the DPD sorting depot it will be re-weighed and measured to confirm the size and weight are what was stated on booking. Surcharge can be added so please ensure you have inputted the dimensions accurately. If you don't have anything to measure your parcel with, just take a look at our guide but remember…. if in doubt it’s best to be generous with your estimations!

What are prohibited and restricted items?

Prohibited items, such as stamps, fire extinguishers and musical instruments (without cases) are not permitted to be sent by any courier you book with My Parcel Delivery. Other items can be sent but are not eligible for any compensation cover. These restricted items include glass products, marble and clocks.

Here is a list of prohibited & restricted items but if you are unsure whether the contents of your parcel fall into either of these categories simply contact us. Our friendly customer services team will be more than happy to help you.

When will my item be delivered?

As a general guide, parcel can be delivered between 8am and 6pm.

DPD’s drop off courier service gives the receiver a one-hour time slot for when to expect their parcel, with the option to collect it from a secure location instead if they won’t be available during that time. In order to receive notification for when the parcel will be delivered, make sure you enter the receiver’s email address and mobile phone number when booking the delivery,

What happens if nobody is at home when the courier arrives to deliver the item?

If no one's home when the courier comes for delivery they will leave a calling card with details of how they get the parcel. If a neighbour is home they may leave the parcel with them and will state this on the calling card. The best idea is to leave a local telephone number for the recipient on your booking so that the courier can call them if needed.

What do I do if my parcel fails to be delivered?

Our courier partners enjoy an impressive 95% success rate with their deliveries. That said, while most go without a hitch, very occasionally things go wrong and none of the couriers are able to guarantee their delivery dates. Anything from heavy traffic, extreme weather condition and road closures can affect the courier's ability to deliver on time. If this happens to you we're truly sorry for the inconvenience. We’ll keep you up to date in the tracking but you can contact us if you need help.
