MPD - safe, affordable & reliable
A hotbed for investors, the small South American country of Suriname has been independent from the Netherlands since 1975 and enjoys a high standard of living. An ethnically diverse place, it does suffer from economic and political challenges, which continue to hold it back. The main industry is bauxite and gold mining, and this is where a great deal of the investment comes to. Other big industries include crude oil, fishing, rice, bananas and lumber with exports around $3 billion every year. This potential in trade means that demand for delivery services in Suriname continues to grow. On top of this, the tourism industry has the potential to thrive with colonial architecture, rainforests and wildlife but the lack of infrastructure makes a lot of the interior inaccessible even if you did want to travel the 4,579 miles from the UK.

When looking for cheap postage to Suriname, most people want to send an item to the capital and largest city of Paramaribo on the country’s coast – the historic centre of which has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2002. Whilst this is easily the largest place in the country, other notable locations are Lelydorp, Brokopondo, Nieuw Nickerie, Moengo and Nieuw Amsterdam. Postcodes aren’t used in Suriname and transport links still need some work. With more than 50 airports and a host of ports and harbours with navigable waterways, it is easy to get items to the country. Inside the country it isn’t quite as easy but there is a small railway and around 1,000 miles of paved highways to drive on.
